Looking back at a lifetime of painting makes me realize that I have
come full circle. The non-objective pieces I did in college during the
60's still resonate in my current paintings and sculpture. I enjoy
works that have rich surface textures and emanate energy. While studying
art and architecture in Venice, Italy, I found that I was as intrigued
with the cracks and layers of paint on my studio walls at the Palazzo
Fortuny as with the ancient artifacts . The fascination with past
cultures as well as the red clay banks of my Mississippi childhood
continue to give me inspiration. Using that Mississippi clay or the
latest digital printing grounds , I will continue to experiment with
new methods and materials that best express my concepts.
